bro i downloaded the links u gave me...they downloaded but they dont work..they dont let me extract them or there not recognised on my usb what shall i do

go to recovery menu

for the firmware make a folder on your usb called PS3 inside that put a folder called UPDATE put the PS3UPDAT.PUP in the update folder if its named like rebugps3updat.pup just rename it to PS3UPDAT.PUP

if it tells you the same is already installed you need to go to recovery mode to install you do this by holding down the power button till the ps3 powers up and shuts down again now press and hold again untill you hear 2 beeps right together then release and wallah your in recovery mode hit number 6 i think system update

cheers for the help i done it now all i had to do is change the name to PS3UPDAT as my ps3 wasnt finding the file under PS3UPDAT.PUP
