just update to OFW every time you want to switch, then from there go to whatever CFW you want.

Remember, you might have to re-install the OFW in recovery mode.

no need for any of this i updated from qa flagged fat 40gb ps3 kmaew to rebug 3.55.2 no problems at and the q flag just sticks you dont need to go to anther firmware if you are worried go to otheros++ firmware reset qa return to ofw go to rebug and reactivate qa flag but i recommend instll over kmaew but its your choice

if you use 3.55.2 you dint even need the button combo i dont think but yeah id always go ofw then to the cfw theres no need to reset the flag imo
