Post: Lagswitch problem.

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Okay, I just got my lagswitch ready. My problem is, when I turn the switch OFF, it says an ethernet cable is not connected, and then signs me out. When I turn it ON, it turns my internet back on, and the lagswitch doesn't even work. It's basiclly a switch on turning my CONNECTION on or off.

Here is my set-up.

modem--router--(switch)--ps3

I have ethernets going into my CPU, then into my Modem. After that I have another ethernet that is hooked to my router, going from one room to my PS3.
About a foot from where the ethernet hooks into the PS3, I have the switch planted.

HELP?

I have talked to a few people, and asked if I cut the orange, or the green. I cut the orange. They then asked me what my 2nd pin was, I said green. They said that could be the factor of why I have this problem.

And the responce to what you said, I can't have it set up like that because my Router and Modem is in 2 other rooms. It's more than 20 feet away from me, to put it simpler. But, I'll try to tape the orange wire back together and cut the green one. If it doesn't work, then I guess I have to try and hook it between the modem and router.

Thanks for your help, I'll update the thread when I find a solution or another problem.

UPDATE! I'm almost 100% positive I have found the solution.

I taped the orange wire back up, and did it all over again, making sure the switch was on OFF, just like I did with the orange when I put the copper wire around the screws. I have had no change in affect.

I think I have to have it setup between my Router and Modem, instead of the cable from my router to my PS3. But, this is impossible because I am way to far away to reach the lagswitch. My Modem and Router and my Computer are in a different room. The only way I can have this lagswitch to work, is to move my PS3 and TV into my computer room, or get 2 or 3 more very long ethernet cables and bring my Router and Modem to my room which has my PS3 and TV. So I can have my Computer with internet while my PS3 has it, too.

umm...btw, if the 2nd pin is green, then you are meant 2 cut the green cable
and as you are too far, use an ethernet coupler to join your cables together. That way you can buy like 3 50ft cable and join em together

What would the Coupler help me with? It seems like the same thing I would do. What would joining them together be i n difference if I just had it like I do know, only with the modem and router in my room instead of 40ft+ away from me. And since I cut the green wire, and had no change in affect, why would I still need to cut it? What is the problem I'm having?

OMD man, the coupler is to make the cable longer cos you sed its like 40ft away from you. That way you can try the setup i told you about b4.

I've given up. The problem is the MODEM AND ROUTER are to far away, it's in another room.
