(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I'm going to be upgrading my HDD soon, and I don't want to have to re-download about 40 gigs of games from the psn store (bandwidth cap). Backup data utility= console specific. If I make a backup to an external using my 100gig-ish HDD, could I restore from that backup on my new HDD (porb gonna get 500gig-1 TB)? Or, since a new HDD will be inserted, will the backup data view this as being a different console? It would be really great to hear someone who's done this before. So to sum it up:

If I make a backup on ps3 A, using HDD X, then can I restore from that backup on PS3 A using HDD Y?

Thanks, & don't forget to quote!

Yea theoretically it should work, but I want to confirm it before I buy the new HDD, because if it doesn't work then I won't be upgrading.

It will work that is one of the reasons the back up data utility is there, i upgraded my full 40gb HDD to a 120gb HDD without downloading it all again
