Yo man, the setup is:

MODEM--SWITCH--ROUTER---PS3

And it won't harm any of your hardware (modem and router)

In general, putting something in between your modem or router will give you more lag time by keeping the voltage levels constant. So:

Modem---(s)---Router------PS3

will probably give you more lag time than:

Modem------Router---(s)---PS3

My setup is:

Modem/Router---(s)---Network Switch------PS3

Mine is Modem-----(switch)------PS3

No router or nothing i get a good 10 seconds of lag enough to kill 4 or 5 people plenty time for me Smile
