So apparently there is a secret PS3 menu that has been tested on a OFW 4.0 system. To access this menu, go to settings > system > system information. Then, press simultaneously R1+L1+DPad Left+Square for a few seconds. Now, release those buttons and immediately Press the start button and keep it pressed. There is also a video down below for this process.

So i tried it and couldn’t get it working, i told him this much, whilst asking him to stop trolling me, then he told me to check PS3 Dev Wiki and i found this:
Go to Settings > System > System Information

Release those buttons then immediately press the start button (and keep it hold)

Apparently he cryptically told me a few hours before it was on PS3 Dev Wiki, but im apparently too dumb and someone managed to decrypt before me, so all props go to him, he doesn’t want to be sourced, if you want to see who it is, follow the person i have been fighting with for over a week on Twitter O_O

Anyhow i hope this makes him happy that no more “fake” news is posted on Ps3HaX >.<

Finally, this was tested on my 4.0 OFW machine….

is this patched?

It is cool and all but can i use it to Jailbreak the Playstation??

No it wont get patched , if they dont want us viewing this info the button code will just get changed in an update or something, it might just be some extra console info for factory use?

Intresting find, wonder if anything could come out of it.

On d pad if you do : down, up, left, right, down, up and hold down select for 3 seconds (while holding start.) the menu will stay up if you let go of everything.

Or do what it says in the OP and tap left on the D-Pad while holding Start and it will stay.....

No it's an exploit at the most you aren't doing any coding here.
