Now I'm sorry if the title sounded misleading but it's not at the same time. I am NOT going to be ignorant on this subject and say I know stuff (which I don't anymore about the ps3 really) but from what I know. DEX -> Shop Firmware.
I found this video on how to downgrade 4.20 shop to 3.55 shop fw.
If that works I remember someone sending me a CEX to DEX converter (they wanted me to compile it in console) but anyway if you can convert your ps3 fw to dex, and downgrade. Being on 3.55 can you convert back from dex to cex?
Now that might sound extremely out of this world, and not possible. I haven't been on this scene in like a year, or what not but maybe if it's a possibilty?

Not sure. But based on where the video above cuts off, I would say it's fake based on that you can usually get alot of FW to Copy across to the system, but then upon trying to install it, you are told that the update data is corrupted and the ps3 reboots on it's old FW (what you had on before you tried the update).
I can see what your saying: Here is my view when you convert to dex from cex You are perm stuck on it You cant go back to cex as yet unless You know away to flash it back(E3 flasher or Progskeet).Your eid0 is set to dex not cex there fore you cant install shop firmware cause the nas_plugin and all the other files are different to dex and it will corrupt it and either cause a ylod.anyway why would you want to install shop you cant install pkgs only retail psn files all these's fake shop firmware is shit dont trust them they are not good and you will perm stuck in the firmware unless you have a flasher.

The following 3 users say thank you to ELITE xxmcvapourxx for this useful post:
Won't work unless you can get a 4.20/4.21 DEX FW to install over a OFW. THEN you would be able to go down to 3.55 DEX. I see what you were saying though :p
Just saying, I think it would have been "cooler" if he could have shown that it was on 3.55 after it installed. I'm not saying its not legit but you really never know if its legit or not, in this case. :blank:

You can convert to and from CEX -> DEX or DEX -> CEX
I compiled a C++ source to do it in console for the ps3... I wish I had it still. I don't even remember who I compiled it for... :FU:
the original intention was to dump memory via DEX (modding purposes) but If this works it can be used for much, much, more.

impossible to convert back to cex cause the eid is only set to debug once its on dex you will need to get the original flash from cex > dex and then verify the dump otherwise it would of been done by now.
And you can already dump the memory if you know how to use target manager and prodgd and debugger from the sdk but i heard 4.0 sdk link no longer available so you be out of luck or just get progskeet dump the ppu and spu or ram to get what you want.here is a hint Libsecure you will know what to do after.

yeah nevermind. The source was made for 3.55. I found it again :p
