OK I just finished fixing two yold ps3s that I bought for 50 bucks.
One of them is the 1st gen phat ps3 and its running on 3.55 with a 9.99 spoof on it. Works perfectly
The other model is the 2nd gen phat ps3 and it was working for maybe 3-5 mins, it turned off and instant ylod happen.
No clue what happen but I know I will still get 50 bucks worth in parts atleast.

Is instant ylod after fixing it rare or common? maybe I goofed up some where and its a easy fix?

Hard drive swapping question

Would it cause harm to my regular 4.25 ofw slim ps3 to use a hard drive that has 3.55 cfw on it?

I tired to put it in my slim and it asked me to connect a usb with the newest update on it.

If I do install the update could I reuse the hard drive on my cfw ps3 later?

EDIT: I accidentally put YOLD instead of YLOD in the title

In some cases it's normal. Had one do it to me, just re-do what you've done as I did and it works, not an issue yet and it's been about a month

Shouldn't be a problem although you may have to format it but your update is stored on the Nor/Nand
