I was looking at some of the PC mods and read the installation instructions. 95% of the mods say something about an "out" folder in the PC version where you would place modified files. The game would boot those modified versions instead of the retail. When I was going through the game folders to place the dev menu in my backup, I seen an "out" folder. I thought, why not? So I downloaded a small mod pack and placed it into my out folder following the installation instructions meant for PC and well, they work.

I found a good mod and tweaked it some. It is still buggy as most weapons sold or found in crates have zero damage and can't be repaired but anything you create such as the dev craft is perfect. Using this and the dev menu to get all the craft stuff along with the data0.pak mods will make it pretty interesting.

I'm pretty sure this would work with the PSN version but I cannot confirm. I have the GOTY disc version with the eboot fix. This more than likely will not work online unless the person(s) you are playing with have the exact same setup.

Original mod pack: You must login or register to view this content.
(will not work as-is on console. delete the settings folder and your good to go)

My slightly modified version: You must login or register to view this content.
Changes include:
-Zombies CAN drown
-Zombies cannot hit you, only grab
-Melee range for player slightly increased
-SUPER kick
-Body shots are now normal/slightly higher damage and not nerfed (original is head kills only)
-Push_force increased (use the left hand of glova... just saying)

To install navigate to USRDIR/DI/out and place the files here. Sometimes the mod instructions tell you to place the files in /DI/out/data just make a data folder if it isn't there already.

Not quite sure where the original data0.pak is.. But it's just the one that was floating around.
My data0.pak: You must login or register to view this content.
Changes from other:
-Just a slight bullet damage increase

More mods: You must login or register to view this content.

If you want me to dumb down the damage or add/take off something let me know.

Wish me a happy bday? I turned 18 today =D (Sept 17[SUP]th[/SUP])

The mods will not take affect on other users unless they have the same modifed files. I can confirm this. I've tried multiple possibilities, and nonetheless, they all end up only me being able to see/use them.
An example of something I've tried:
I've modded the default paddle so that it is infinite damage and orange color. I then tried to give this to a friend, and when I did, the weapon was default damage for him. The only thing that stuck was the orange color.

As for characteristic modifications, I am unsure. I am not sure whether if they will take affect, and the other person will be able to see them, the game will glitch (like MW2, where one person has a hacked spec ops save, and the other one doesn't) or if they will become completely defective.
Also, happy birthday Happy

Strange. I would figure that would stick as it's just a value for the paddle and values are different for each object so there isn't a set amount of damage. Is there?

There is a set default amount on every weapon.
The game reads each client's files individually. Say I have a modified Inventory.scr. You do not.
I would have the modifications that I made within Inventory.scr. You would not.
The reason it does this is because that the engine reads each individual client's file separately.

By the way, I'm proud of you for figuring this out :happycry:.
Ever since I released the method for hacking it, I wanted users to figure out more, and explore on their own. Claps

So there is a max/min value for the weapons. Hmm. One thing I don't get is why when I apply all of this, the game can't give me a weapon with any amount of attack. It is always zero and you can't repair/upgrade the weapon but you can use it. Maybe something in one of the files I'm looking over?

Anyway, yeah I try :p. I thought about fallout when I seen the PC mods and I've been testing some. I have found a few that work on console but not released yet. I have a few things for the community in the near future :p just need a bit more tweaking until I'm satisfied. Not really happy with this quite yet tbh. Needs to be improved.

There is something reverting it to level 0, I do believe. I'll check your Data0.pak when I get home.

Any chance you could provide me with some examples of weapons that aren't repairable, and have 0 damage?

Any blue grade weapons, most green, and a small amount of orange. Haven't found a normal grade weapon that didn't have any attack.

Honestly, I don't see anything wrong?
All of the weapons that are reparable have:
reparable(true)

All of the weapons have damage factors that aren't at 0 unless the condition is at 0.

the psn version has an encrypted datapak like the .self for mw2 that stops all these mods from happening. anything and everything that can be done has been done. But, you get an A for effort.
