Just To start everything, a PS3 is only fully hacked starting at CUSTOM FIRMWARES 3.55 & BELOW!!!!!. SONY rewrote new codes AND MORE to all firmwares higher than 3.55 to not allow the hacked codes to work and does not allow modified firmwares even if higher, if its not signed with sony's keys it will NOT work. NO one has or has released sonys keys so do not expect to simply be on cfw 3.55 released world wide freely again. Sony has taken extra measures to prevent that again. The only way to a hacked firmware is to find a console that might need service/ BAD BLURAYS, with firmware on below 3.55, or find a console needing a downgrade using a device to attach to the nor or the dual nands, sony has taken the steps to block these devices by changing Lv0 codes and the METLDR AND MORE in newer released models of the slim and super slim, MODELS CECH250x released in and after 2012 can not be put on firmware lower than 3.60, CECH- 300x regular slims and super slims CECH-400x are not hackable in general. So if you want a hacked console look for the older slims or newest of phats for the easiest way to downgrade with no solder.

What is a hacked ps3 you ask?
Answer: A hacked ps3 is for cheats. YES AND NO!

A hacked ps3 can be used for more than just cheating. there are several homebrew apps that have been released to play videos, music, play back ups emulators, change your ps3 consoles from a retail to a developers for testing, aka cex to dex AND Even repair system failures and remarry blurays. The only trouble is that not a lot do enough research to figure what you can do with them. When one has a hacked ps3 its based for back ups mainly or to mod games. as that seems to be the two main reasons for one.

Sex is NOT CFW just because you see INSTALL PKG, that is a factory menu setting released on SEX consoles. SEX CONSOLES ARE THE DUMMY SYSTEMS THAT PLAY ONLY DEMO'S AT WALMART AND BEST BUY LIK STORES. YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO INSTALL ANY MODS NO ACCESS TO INTERNAL HDD, NO HOMEBREW NO PIRATING GAMES, ITS A DEMO CONSOLE ONLY DEMOS ARE INSTALLABLE THAT ARE SIGNED BY SONY. If you fall for this you did not watch from main sites that its fake.

ALSO when you see cfw that says no devices needed higher than 3.55 than its fake and will usually brick your console or be the dumb sex.

This is what you can do!
When a ps3 is hacked using firmware based off of 3.55, it is now opened to homebrew, unsigned files and a full access to system files, and internal hardware processes. may not look like much unless you know how to do stuff. The simple part is installing and playing but now your ps3 is opened up like a pc. You can now mod games, your now open to hidden from public files, known as game data or updates.

Game data is a game's or a apps hidden patches and security to a game for fixes and play and downloaded add ons. there are many ways to take internal files and decrypt them just have to find the right tool on a pc that are compatible. People do have releases of files all ready modified to the public that just requires you to locate the original and replace it on the ps3.

Another thing you can do now is back up Your games with a homebrew app called multiman or one of the other back up manager apps. There are several ways to have back ups played on your hacked ps3. you will be able to copy games straight from disc to internal & external hdd or usb and even your pc using wifi your ethernet. you can also download games for ps3 from pc and place it on usb or transfer it using multiman from pc using filezilla, seeing all files from pc on your ps3 as a open book.

For 3.55 cfw extra measures are needed to sign in, play newer releases and more, but Usually top named cfw modders release good higher up to date cfw for ppl that are already on cfw usually around 1-2 weeks after new firmware is released from sony. DO NOT EXPECT A NEW CFW WITH IN ! DAY TO A WEEK FROM TOP MODDERS LIKE REBUG OR ROGERO! THEY HAVE LIVES AND IT TAKES TIME.

NOW IF ON 3.55 still, The only troubles you will run into are signing in to PSN, BANS, & required firmware for backed up games all from newer released games. PSN or now known as SCE SONY COMPUTER ENTERTAINMENT requires you to be up to date to sign in and for newer releases a firmware high than 3.55. there are bypasses methods, resigning to firmware of games, and a cfw thats more up to date but all is only made through a base of being on a console with 3.55 or downgrading with a device to unlock and rewrite the codes to be on a cfw 4.30 rogero 2.0.3 and at this time there is no need for the bypass for this firmware. The only way to a hacked firmware again is if you are on a 3.55 firmware ps3 if its higher you will have to hook internal devices and tools to the motherboards nand or nor and modify the files to be able to reach 3.55. after reaching 3.55 again you can get modified firmware and update to higher modified firmware only if on 3.55 or a firmware with a unsigned codes is active. if you install ANY OFFICIAL FIRMWARE HIGHER THAN #.%% (3.55) lol {@u@}
OVER YOUR CFW YOU JUST LOST EVERYTHING UNSIGNED AND WILL HAVE TO TAKE STEPS WITH INTERNAL DEVICES AGAIN TO DOWNGRADE BACK TO A MODIFIED FIRMWARE.

IF YOU ARE HIGH THAN 3.55 YOU WILL NEED A INTERNAL DEVICE TO MODIFY YOUR MEMORY!
Sony has patched future firmware from being modified and is not allowed for installation over official firmware, even if the official firmware is lower than the modded firmware you want, can not update to it unless you console is still at 3.55 without the new sign codes of newer firmware.

If you do not take the time for research with sites like Nextgenupdate.com, ps3devwiki.com, ps3news.com, ps3hax.net, dashhacks.com, then you're stuck doing nothing more than staring at a hacked ps3 with nothing on it. There is a lot more that you can do you just have to do your own research and learn. This is only a first step if you are wanting or are new to a hacked ps3.

PS.. DO NOT FALL FOR THE STUPID 4.XX 4.XX CEX to SEX KOISK custom firmware crap, that only has pkg installer to it that only allows SONY'S SIGNED DEMO PKG files, there is nothing to that firmware but a trap of crap and legal demos.

YOU CAN NOT SWAP HDD AND BE HACKED,
A PS3 is not ran from a hdd, of course you will get the error no hdd can not start, But the hdd pretty much just holds the xmb, games, files, saves.

ON OFFICIAL FIRMWARE, When trying to use a unsigned app it will not work, even if data transferred from a hack ps3. if the ps3 is not modified from a firmware update in the memory, it is not hacked.

Still today a ps3 firmware can be modified, but not installed because a bunch of keys and file decryptions are still missing. it can only be installed on firmware 3.55 and below because the keys on this firmware and below are solved.

So how does a ps3 work?
From the nands and nor's of the internal memory, when firmware is installed its is rewritten to the memory and is fully based off the motherboard. Also to let all know DO NOT SWITCH A FULL BLU RAY DRIVE BLU RAY BOARD WITH ANOTHER PS3 UNLESS ITS HACKED AND ABLE TO BE REMARRIED USING FACTORY SERVICE MODE, LV2DIAG.SELF. The bluray board is marred to the system just like 360. Other than that you can swap usb, wifi, laser's, motors, ribbons, power supplies,cases,screws, ports on matching models.

You are also able to make a successful back up with e3 and swap nor's and reflash original back up to a new nor or a old one from another console. SHOULD BE ABLE TO also use a E3 FLASHER AND USE THE TWO SOLDER WIRES AND BREAK A SPECIFIC POINT ON THE MOTHERBOARD PREVENTING POWER TO THE ON BOARD NOR to dual boot any of them on nors.


BLU RAY MIRROR DEVICE.
the two blu ray usb mirrors internal pcb [Cobra ode/ 3k3y ] will not give you a full hack access and can be blocked just from a simple update and also even rewritten and modified by sony themselves. It MOST likely will not be a good idea to waste around $150 Just to play back ups and loose all access to being able to do that when a hacked console is cheaper to make and already gives you a lot more but only troubles are bans If busted, but can continue to do so much more.

Placing something on your USB flash drive, and then sticking it in your PS3, is NOT hacking, modifying, reverse engineering, or anything of that nature. It's called 'leeching' and I despise people who claim to be magnificent 'hackers' when all they do is leech from other people. Until you create a gateway to modifications to the Playstation 3 console, you'll then be considered a "PS3 hacker."

Until then, refrain from calling yourself one. Anyone can repair a PS3 if they put the time into it. Only few can cripple their software, and manipulate the shit Sony places inside so we can run our homebrew.

You should also include a section for e.g. if your on 3.55 and want to sync trophies how to do it safe and sucessfully and not get account ban please it will help. Also great thread!

ive been using rogero 4.30 to much to need a trophy section in this. but if you want that added and know a good tutorial send it in a message and i will add it. also to all i have updated info on why the hdd being hacked will do nothign to give you a fully hacked ps3. and also a nor swap idea that might work

I just read through his whole post again just be sure, but nowhere in that post does he call himself a hacker. Every time he uses the word hack, its only to describe the console itself. Example : hacked PS3. There is nothing wrong with his post in any way. All of his information is correct. While its true that he didn't personally find out exactly how to do everything in this post, he obviously understands it enough to try and explain it to other users without as much experience, which is the whole point of his post. There is a select few people that actually hack the consoles themselves, and then in turn allow the general public to know how to do it. The end result: a hacked console. How did he get the hacked console? He learned how to do it, most likely from a tutorial or his own research. As with anything else, he was shown how to do it, and then did it on his own. He hacked his PS3. Is he a hacker? No. Does he claim to be? No. Did he hack his console himself? Yes. I don't understand why you're so butt hurt over nothing.
