So, i have researched countless hours the topic of BANS/UNBANS, and have compiled this post together for you...

BANS:

1. What's Happening?
Basically, SONY has always been neck-to-neck with the Development / Modding community. We have found ways to out smart SONY, while SONY has reacted by out smarting us. Recently, they have developed a method of temporarily suspending or banning a PS3 System, or account.

2. How is this happening?
SONY has compiled a list of console id's (updating) that is called on when a client sends a request to the server to log in. If your console id matches that of one on the list, you will not be able to log in. **THERE IS NO BYPASSING THIS***, No spoofer, firmware, or any other software can get rid of your ban. Once your console ID is added, its added.

3. Why was i banned?
It is likely that you were executing modified game code (EBOOTS, GSC, CFG, ETC) in order to mod games like call of duty. Since you were a bad-ass (like me) you decided to head online with your CFW PS3 and F*CK s*IT UP on MW3/BO2. you got to master prestige, you pissed of kids, and you loaded up all the choco EBOOTS your little hacking heart could desire. Despite ignoring warnings of bans, you went ahead anyways. Yes, this was exciting... until you recieved your error code. 4. How did they detect me?
1) It is most commonly noted that users are reported through an in-game reporting system (MW3 and BO2 have these).
Once reports are confirmed, depending on the severity of your actions, if it meets recomendations, You are then reported to PSN.

2) A user can also be detected by running BACKUPS of games online (BO2 Especially). If you use any type of homebrew application to run pirated copies of games, it's detectable so DONT RUN THEM ONLINE!

UN-BANS:

1. What is a console ID?
Your console ID is your PS3's Identity, its driver's license if you will. just as multiple services in life require you to show your ID, so does your PS3. It is encrypted within the system and is structured like so: [consoleid+32(nullbytes, or ZEROS)] without it you cannot do anything... at all. the 'PSN' checks your console id for various tasks like downloading content, signing in, updating game firmwares, etc.

2. Unbanning Applications

Various apps have been released like PS_Unban, and Change_IDPS, etc that allow you to rewrite your console id. These are fine and dandy, but sadly, you cannot 'generate' an IDPS, or console ID, so apps that are released share a console ID that will be shared by everone using that app. This is why PS_Unban was outdated so quickly because someone used there 'second-chance' to hack games again, and so that id was added to the ban list, causing all others using that app to become banned once more.

3. What if i convert?

Converting from CEX>EX, (retail to debug) will not edit, alter, or change your console ID in anyway. SO dont risk bricking your ps3 if you dont what your doing because you wont like what you find. Any firmwares, softwares, hardwares (flashers, dongles, etc.) also cannot remove your ban. Like i said there is no way to bypass this unless you change your console ID.

4. Can i contact SONY, and get them to unban my ps3?
This should be obvious, no sob story, act of innocence, or any other stupid whining will win sony's hearts. So dont try and call customer support and lying about your ps3. They will laugh and throw the 'TERMS-&-CONDITIONS' in yo face.

5. So What should i do?

Find an old PS3 from one of your friends, etc. Sniff the ID off of the console (You must login or register to view this content. and rewrite your console id (You must login or register to view this content.). Then you should be good to go! This is the only proven way to unban your console for good.

PREVENTING BANS:

1. DONT run backups online

This is a huge issue, if you run backups of games like call of duty online, YOU ARE VERY LIKELY TO BE DETECTED.
SO DONT DO IT!

2. Dont Hack Online

This one should be very obvious, if you want to avoid being banned, dont show the world that you can hack, stay offline, or in private matches and you should be good.

3. Use for development only

Try using your CFW for something else besides modded lobbies, guys thats so dumb, and completley ignorant. keep the game clean and let the lesser species enjoy there moneys-worth. CFW PS3's have so much potential, especially since it allows expansion to community content. Try creating a hombrew app, or actually creating a mod yourself for a game. dont just use your system to ruin games, because it will catch up to you in the long run. TRUST ME.

4. Stay hidden

Since CFW's were never meant to go online, its probably a good idea to stay offline. thats the best way to keep from receiving a ban, hands down. STAY OFF OF PSN AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE. Guys you can be detected, weather you believe it or not. I know... you feel like a god, and that no on can ban you because your so 1337 Uberr Haxxxorzz. But it will happen, so if you dont want to lose your account / network access stay off it as much as possible.

I'm getting the PSN Account error code that says, "This Account has been banned temporary suspended..."
Can it be unbanned?

That means it can either be banned or temp banned, so if you wait it out your suspension might be lifted, but if its only account you might be able to create another account on the system. thanks

Sony doesnt understand that we paid for our ps3s and we control Play station Network

Can some please explain the dex and cex stuff because IM getting my jb this week and I wanna test real time editing so I can do MW3/Modding offsets etc but dont want to get ban on my console or account can someone guard me on this thanks <3

.Choco has a tutorial on how to convert, and i wouldnt take real time editing online, and risk getting banned.
Basically CEX = retail consoles, or consoles that you would buy from the store. these are for customers
DEX = debug consoles, can view source code, memory, etc. with prorgams like ProDG, etc.

The process of converting is very risky, if you do not follow the instructions letter by letter, youll brick your system.

Yeah it doesnt look worth it Im just gonna stay with the kmeaw cfw that guy is gonna pre install for me, ashame though i was looking for to mod mw3 stats etc thanks for the help though.

So im not the only one.

basically running cfw period can get you banned, some of the ways listed are not so likely to get you banned, some will fast like treyarch servers, good article tho, the more people that share their opinions of what they think is getting people banned, the better, lets face it tho, we really don't know all the ways sony is really detecting, so take all opinions like this and decide what you can and cant do for yourself, dont be so paranoid u give up online play and cripple your PS3, i mean, are the people that get banned and the people that are so afraid of being banned any different, each are giving up the same thing, only difference is, the people that do get banned and were careful had the features the people that stay offline not to get banned didnt a lot longer. and if your really careful, you may never get banned either, moral of the story, be careful and smart about it, not paranoid
