A little side note: I dont know where to put this tutorial, so if the mods see it necessary to move this please do so

Today I'm posting here to bring you guys a tutorial on how to put your PS3 into DMZ mode. Not many people know about this for whatever reason .You do not require a jailbroken or otherwise modded PS3 for this. However you will need a PC and access to your router configuration page.

What does DMZ do ?
DMZ, which stands for Demilitarized Zone, will open up all ports on your PS3. This might sound a bit scary and pointless to users who do not know what this means. By opening all ports, your PS3 will no longer block ports which some games use, therefore switching your nat type to open and allowing for a more stable and powerful connection to PSN.

Procedure:
There are two different parts to this tutorial. One part are the procedures on the Pc and the other will be the steps to be taken on the PS3. We will start with the PC steps.

1-1. First off what you want to do is go to your router config page. This page can in most cases be found by going into any Internet Browser of your choosing, and there typing one of the two addresses into the address bar. The first address is 192.168.1.1 and the other is 192.168.0.1. A page should open, asking you to type a username and passwords, and in most cases the default credentials will still be active. To find your default password and username you can just go to Google and search for your router models default credentials. The model name can be found on the log in page.

1-2. After you have successful loged in, you can start searching for a tab called DMZ. It can often be found under the advanced tab. Once you found the tab you will be presented with a field to type a ip address, and a bunch of options you can change. We are not interested in any of the options, we are only here to type a ip address into the field. The ip address you will enter here is up to you, i always choose something high like 192.168.0.101, but you can choose any ip you like. Of course this ip should follow your routers ip scheme, so if you typed 192.168.1.1 to get to the log in page, your ip should,d be something like 192.168.1.xxx. Once you have chosen the ip, enter it, tick the little box saying "DMZ enable" and finally scroll to the bottom of the page and click save settings. At this point i recommend just restarting the router so that the settings can effect.

Now we will switch over to the PS3 to configure it properly.

2-1. To start off go to Network Settings, the first slide will ask you what method you want to use, select custom. After that you will have to select what connection type you want to use, either wired or wireless are fine. Depending on what option you chose, you will be asked to select what internet you want to use, do so.Next will be the IP Address Settings, here we will select Manual. You will be presented with 5 ip fields to fill in, the first field, named IP Address, will be the ip we chose on our router page, in my case, as i stated above, it will be 192.168.0.101. The Subnet Mask will always be 255.255.255.0, while the last three options should get the same ip as the address you used to get to your routers log in page. If you aren't sure which one that is, you can open CMD, type ipconfig and hit enter. This will list a bunch of information in the command prompt. Scroll to the top and look for Default Gateway, the address behind it will be the address you will have to enter as the Default Router, Primary DNS and the Secondary DNS. Phew the hard part is done, set MTU to automatic, set Proxy Server to "Do Not Use" and UPnP to "enable".

2-2. Now you should be at the overview screen , just press ok and test your connection, everything should be fine and you should be able to connect to the internet and psn. Go into a game like Mw3 and see if your nat type now says open, if it does you have successfully put your PS3 into DMZ mode.

Thank you for reading this tutorial, im very sorry if you find any grammar error, this is due to english not being my first language. If you have any questions on how to do this or if you have a problem feel free to pm me or add me on skype, maltedrogemuller.

One last side Note: If you groan at this post, please tell me why. Iv had numerous peope tell me that this is old and has already been posted, thats great i never said i was the first or that i found this, but i think having a post that's on like page 200 on one of the forums isnt going to help anyone that doesn't know about this.

Maybe we can even sticky this :fa:
