Post: Edit warning prompt on ps3 [OFW 4.41]

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Now after days of screwing around with the ps3's firmware I had an idea to change the warning prompt when the ps3 boots (the epilepsy one).
Now if you extract PS3UPDAT.PUP on OFW 4.41 you get a couple files..
You must login or register to view this content.
open up update_files.tar and you'll find a file called 'dev_flash_018.tar.aa.2013_04_19_031009'.
Decrypt that with fwpkg.exe (released by wanikoko + geohot). You now have a file called 'dev_flash_018.tar'
You must login or register to view this content.
If you open that up you will see sysconf_plugin.rco in '/vsh/resource/'. Open that rco file with RCOmage and edit etc. like you would CFW.

You must login or register to view this content.

Now after editing, save and compile back into sysconf_plugin.rco, and add it back to the dev_flash_018.tar file into '/vsh/resource/'.

Now we have to encrypt 'dev_flash_018.tar' back to
'dev_flash_018.tar.aa.2013_04_19_031009'. Make sure to compile as SCE FWPKG format.

After you encrypt you should get a file looking like this (dev_flash_018.tar.aa.2013_04_19_031009):
You must login or register to view this content.

add 'dev_flash_018.tar.aa.2013_04_19_031009' back into 'update_files.tar' and repack the PS3UPDAT.PUP file with the new update_files.tar

NOTE: THIS IS ONLY THEORY BUT I BELIEVE IT WILL WORK

also, dev_flash3 might have a hashing system on the dev_flash tar files... so idk about that.

NoEven if he got this working, which he might, there will never be a jailbreak for 3.56 and above. To do so you'd have to crack the ECDSA algorithm and that would take around 60 billion years from today using supercomputers. SO a 3.55 is the last resort to modding.

I rebuilt fpkg with wanikokos new source. I'm compiling .tar as SCE fpkg format and I'll add it to the tar later.

Okay the problem ISN'T ECDSA. idk why people keep saying that. ecdsa is a verification algorithm, think of it as a really secure hash like sha1. Now we can make a cfw but the problem is the checks in the lv0, lv1, lv2_kernal, etc. plus newer fw uses enc/dec keys from hdd as well as tweak keys

Tried editing coldboots and I realized that 3.56 checks files in the spkg_hdr, I tried using unspkg but the tool keeps giving me the error "no key found" although I'm sure it's in the right category... any help?
