Ok, recently my ps3 had been overheating a lot. I looked at all the tutorials but couldnt seem to fix the overheating problems. I didnt want to take my ps3 apart and put new thermal paste on the CPU because I didnt want to break anything, so I thought maybe it just needed to be cold. This might sound dumb, but it worked for me. I put my ps3 in my refrigerator for about 10 minutes. Since then it hasn't powered off once because of overheating. That was about 2 weeks ago. So if you don't want to take your ps3 apart to put new thermal paste on, just put it in your refrigerator for about 10 minutes and see if that doesn't solve your problem.
