(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); From time to time, I read a thread about someone saying that their system no longer boots up or shuts down unexpectedly. This irritates me SO much. So, I figured I would make this in order to save people time.

- If you are on CEX refer to this site for a solution. You must login or register to view this content.

-If you are on DEX firmware of at least 4.50≤ (Less than or equal to is what that means) I would recommend using this link (It will download instantly. Link is directly from ITA site) You must login or register to view this content.

If you are DEX firmware greater than 4.50, I recommend using this You must login or register to view this content. If this does not boot up I would advise that you downgrade to a compatible firmware. To do this, you will need to toggle QA flagging. This should be available in Rebug toolbox. For safety, install this .pkg. You must login or register to view this content. Link is from Rebug.me I am using 4.50 ITA. Link: You must login or register to view this content.
The password (According to the site) is cervelletto

The fan speed I use is 8A or 8F (About 55% in webman if I remember correctly)
Temps after playing GTAO for a few hours
CPU-53-57C (55C average which is about 131F)
RSX- 53-59C (About the same average)

A thing to remember is that I have a slim model. I am not sure what temperatures a fat model would average at. So experiment!

Although it runs loudly, A over-ear headset should block out most of the noise. I adapted to mine.

IN SUMMARY, I believe this is a necessary thing for smooth operation of your PS3 as replacing thermal paste or reballing in rare cases can be a hassle. So save your time.

=D

UPDATE: Once you boot up ITA manager and complete the setup (Only if it's your first time) press the start button, scroll down to Tools. There should be a option labeled as "Control Fan & USB Wakeup"
select that and at the top there will be 3 options. 1. Payload which is a slightly more accelerated version of default. 2. SYSCON Which is the system default 3. By User or simply User. To highlight, press RIGHT on the Dpad until it is highlighted in a Green color. Then press down. Under the words "Fan Mode" it will say "User/Shutdown Speed". Highlight over it and press R1 to increase the fan speed to the speed I personally use (8A), or your liking. When finished, Hit "Set Settings" near the bottom right hand corner. If you are using 8A or 8F as I, it will sound like a jet engine starting. (If you think that's loud, try FF!) NOTE: This is important, this will not be the system default speed when the system is powered on, To activate your personal fan speed again before playing, just run ITA manager or Control fan and exit. Sorry about the confusion. If this is a problem for you, try Rebug 4.65.2 and install WEBMAN to the XMB. This is actually a very useful tool. Within Webman, you can set the system fan speed on startup and never have to run ITA manager or Control Fan again! I use older firmwares for compatibility reasons so this is up to you. Good Luck!

Rebug 4.70 or 4.65.2 I am pretty sure has Cobra options. Check out You must login or register to view this content. for more details!

I'm not a Cobra fan, but thanks.

I do not have it set to a certain speed. I did not like that. I have it set to a temperature of 42 c and webman keeps it at that. I clean the system weekly and have proper ventilation around it. The fan is maybe running around 70 - 75 % speed. I also have a vent on top of my ps3 with a small computer fan pulling the hot air out.

Thats extremely healthy, if you would like lower temps (just saying) why not invest in getting it water cooled dude?

Look at this thread to see the temps of a water cooled ps3 dude. You must login or register to view this content.

That does sound cool, no pun intended (lol). I think I will pass for the PS3 since I dont believe there will be much more use for it since there are no more releases coming out on it. I will however use that if/when Ps4 gets jailbroken.

True that lol But some people need to understand there is more to a jailbreak than just modding games. The amount of people who get jailbroken ps3's just to mod gta is bonkers and maybe if any of those people decided to develop for the console it could potentially revive the scene.

The problem is with PS3 slowing starting to be pushed away and the amount of people that have a need for modding or want to mod also decreasing, it is becoming a very immature and fame hog scene. Not many people are willing to learn and those that want to learn are simply told to go fuck themselves by most. It is almost pointless to ask others for help because most the time you will either get ignored or belittled. There is not much drive for a person to figure it out for themselves either.

What would you change in ITA Manager? There are multiple temp options.

Good advice, for those who have overheating problems. When I had my CFW it used to freeze a lot from overheating. I got fan control and put that up almost to max, ran loud asf and used a lot of power but boy did it get the job done.
