Post: Console not displaying to TV after Jailbreak FIX!
04-21-2016, 12:53 AM #1
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); So after jailbreaking my console, the PS3 wouldn't connect to the screen via HDMI. I would have sound, but no display. Tried multiple cords, so I assume something on the motherboard got fried. However, I went out and picked up some component cables, and they worked perfectly. Woke up the next day, went to turn it on and the PS3 would turn on, but the power button wouldn't work and there wouldn't be anything on the screen... So after a few days of trying different things, I finally found this to work 100% of the time. Not sure why this happened, or why this works, but it does. I'm not very good at explaining things or doing tutorials or speaking in general, so please try to bare with me. Smile

Video:

I usually leave it on while I boot my laptop in the morning or while I shower or something, then come back and do this.

Hopefully this helps.

The HDMI still DOES NOT WORK!! The audio is there, but no display. If anyone knows why this is the case, please inform me. However, component cables + a few display options on the PS3 give me the same quality as an HDMI would. If anyone needs to know the settings I changed to get the quality back, let me know.

I think you need to reset the HDMI. You have to hold the power button at a certain time and stuff. Find a tutorial and try it maybe it will fix it.

So you have to warm up your ps3?

Dude. Change the thermal paste on your RSX chip or this will only get worse I promise you.

I did change it. I actually ended up changing it twice.

Try bending the clamps' middles inward to get a better connection between the chips and the heatsinks.

If your ps3 is having to warm up to display, I would assume you have a disconnected ball(s) under your RSX chip. Warming it up reheats the solder and the connection is made again. If this were the CPU chip, the console would not even run and warmup would not even be possible, but since the CPU is fine it is able to run but not display because of failing RSX.

A light reflow to the RSX may help with this.. I wouldn't recommend it unless you are comfortable doing such a process though..

try this its loose connection on the rsx or cpu get two blocks of timber and turn your cooker top electric of coasre on a low heat(no 4) place the motherboard on the the 2 blocks of timber about 2 0r 3 inches and leave it over the cooker rsx/cpu facing upwards for about ten mins then get a heat gun and warm the rsx and the cpu for a further 5 mins then turn down the heat to 2 for another 5 then turn it off and leave it cool there do not move it it needs to cool natrauly so it will hold it should work for you my guess when you were doing your jailbreak you bent the board slightly or dropped it or tapped it off something hard

That's my issue. Opening the console back up is something I'm not exactly comfortable with doing. I'm extremely heavy-handed so handling everything is a bit of a mess. I ended up having to have a friend solder the plug for the fan back on due to my inability to be gentle. I may look into it, however, and see if I can find a friend who has experience with it to help. Thanks for the advice Smile
