(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I personally use dual as i can have my network connection disabled and still ftp, rtm etc, that and for me network sharing through laptop gives me a big delay and my wifi has really slow transfer speeds for files so i use wifi as my main on ps3 and have a cord connected from ps3 to computer for my rtm and mostly ftp. so i wanna know what you guys prefer to use and why.

For people who have never got it to work or tried it:
1. Console thats on dex
2. ethernet cord. (some types wont work fully)
3. console turned on with other side of cord in it.
4. For windows 7/8 go to change adaptor settings, right click on local area connection and select properties, in networking tab select internet protocol version 4. then select properties. now manually set the the ip and dns etc, i use IP: 10.42.0.2 Mask: 255.255.255.0 Default: 10.42.0.1 and primary dns: 10.42.0.1 now hit validate then ok.
5. now on ps3 go to debug settings and hit enable dual settings and then set network for dual setting go manual and put ip as 10.42.0.XX and mask as 255.255.255.0 (XX being the a number example 3 - 99)
6. reboot system and you should be able to connect, don't set a DHCP as your not on a acctaul network
7. refer to notes for information test with ccapi if its working for not for you or tmapi, to search for it you might need to change the address in the search tab. example. 10.0.0.20 - 10.0.0.137 is my default to search in target manager in order to find console, simply change the to 10.42.0.XX - 10.42.0.XX

Notes:
1. for ftp you need webman other wise it will not find consoles second ip address
2. for tmapi options to work you need to have all debug options set up like normal use expect single is now dual
3. do not share the connection of your wifi on pc to the local network adaptor its a separate network for offline use
4. this will not interfere with you computers wireless connection but on the ps3 in rare cases it will error on sign in if this happens sign in though xmb or hit sign in again that should fix it.

Single. You can use TMAPI and have no issues as some games you can't mod with dual. Most would agree singal. Plus FTP isn't recommended for everything, USB is much easier anyways and safer.

i personally disagree, i've never had any tmapi issue while using dual and i clear my history after a ftp and never had issues with bans or anything from it so i don't see how its safer or easier, my personal experience though, but in saying that most people can't get dual to work currently cause of poor network configuration and single for most people does the job, but for my uses dual is better suited for me

Dual doesn't allow you to attach tools with TMAPI. FTP can cause issues such as corrupted HDD, file system, and can cancel at any time. Plus it's slower. I've seen it happen, whether it's happened to you or not. Some games like bo3 need single to mod. Other than that it's the same risk really. It's not safe in the way that it can cause damage.

i don't play bo3, and tmapi does attach with dual settings. i use tmapi on cod4, mw2, mw3, black ops 1, bo2, gta 5 when i still played it, as for ghost i've always used ccapi as i don't have a debug eboot or self. as for hdd corruption, never had a major issue. if your changing the dev_flash files and it fails just re send the failed files, as for games or updates worse you can do is corrupt the folder or game maybe trophies if you are editing them so i still don't see your point unless the ftp connecting fails and you can't reconnect changing dev_flash files but that can be fixed in recovery menu so still no big deal. and ftp for me is faster, example. copying a game for a usb takes say 40 mins for me, but the same game in ftp takes 10 mins.

You would think right? But nope, I've seen it happen. Transferring just regular files and having system corrupt. USB is faster depending what you got, 3.0 is better of course. But that I know tools don't attach on dual. Maybe cause they are older games? Doubt it, not too sure but single is recommended by everyone anyways. I don't play bo3 either, I just use it to mod accounts.

i'm not sure, like with my old cord dual didn't work but my new one does perfectly, maybe its limited to certain setups or maybe i didn't have correct config in the pass. but for me my transfer speeds are faster via ftp but i do agree with you with the single in a way, its easier to set up and the odd network issue is less likely. as for hdd corruption there is always a risk but as i said i've never experienced to the point where i have to restore my console. but in the end we all just go with what works for us and most things work for me. i finally solved my psn game errors on all psn games i own so that made me happy, when i had fix eboot and legit licence it didn't work but use react psn instead of my online account and no more starting errors so thats good Smile sorry about the small disagreement on my end.

It's fine lol, I get what you're saying. I'm just stating facts. If it's what you prefer regardless then good for you Smile Psn games just always have trouble, easier to get disc version so you could mod them too. Corruptions with FTP I've seen happen a few times but it's random. Maybe it's your setup, not completely sure. Just going from what I've heard and tested.

well i'm not into modding really and all psn games work fine now that i know how to fix currently for any game now, if i wanted mods for games that can't use tools or mods/menus due to difference of offsets/address etc i could always find some of them and make a tool though find more advanced offsets and functions for some games that would have me scratching my head but all the psn games i own are for earning trophies or playing online legit so it doesn't mater anyways Smile
