You HDD is dev_hdd0.

If it works as internal hdd then it's not fat32 anymore. The PS3 reformatted back. Once you reformat it to fat32 then stick the USB cable in the right slot on your PS3

Probably the hard drive is corrupted. Are you able to access it on the computer?

It may be corrupt or just need a reformat. See what pops up when you plug into PC. If nothing pops up it could b corrupt or have some internal connection problem or the cable connecting the external hdd to a source. If something does pop up on the PC then reformat it and u should b good. Back up anything you want as everything will b erased during reformat
