^ Not my video but I'm having the same exact problem.

So far I've tested 3 games on the ps3 (the games are used) but the system is brand new. I got the system on sale yesterday and it makes noise when I play Red Dead redemption, killzone 2, and dead or alive 5. I haven't tried any other games "yet" but I'm getting ready to try borderlands on it.

Any reason why its doing this?

Note : the ps3 doesn't make any noise (at all) while I'm downloading a demo or just afc (away from controller) on the main menu.

Exchanging it may not be a bad idea.

My friend has the same problem. He returned it and got a new one. Sigh*

Nothing to worry about.. It's just the disc hitting the roof of the drive it won't hurt a thing. You could always exchange your ps3 if it's bothering you that bad, but it's nothing serious.

Replace it with a new ps3...

Yeah, thats not right. Sounds like my old ps2...After a noise like that it lasted about 2 weeks before all the games started to skip and eventually the system switched off.

Fan issue, the ps3 is over-heating a lot, this can be solved by applying new thermal paste.
