The lovely thing about CFW is we can modify the .pup. Search for MFW pup editor and then download it. I think you open the PS3UPDAT.PUP file with it and edit it so it doesn't need a bdvd drive to update

i cant go into recovery mode now. So idk how to switch updates

You should be able to update in the settings

Cant go on the XMB. Its stuck on this updating thing and stops at 37% and gives me an error.
