Do a barrel roll!
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Hi everyone. I got a PS3 Slim 120GB in a bulk buy. It has never been opened and still has the warranty sticker. As usual you go to boot it and get the message "HDD not found". At first I though it was the HDD but I tried another and still the same thing.
Now here is the weird thing.
I can get the PS3 to boot and work properly only if the HDD is connected externally. Your probably thinking how?
Well I put an E3 flasher were the HDD normally goes and plug in a sata cable to were the HDD is in the dock and it actually works. But I still can't figure out why it wont boot internally. I tried updating to FW 4.66 and rebuilding database but its still the same. When the HDD is inside the PS3 there is no HDD light flashing and the HDD has no power.
If anyone has any suggestions please help me out Smile

EDIT: I just booted the console with the HDD externally and now getting a message that it needs me to install FW 4.66 again. I've added some images. Just installed 4.66 again and now it works externally...

I recommend trying to use your external HDD as your PlayStation's main hard drive, until your issue is fixed.

My console did this a while back and I had to use my 3TB external hard drive as my PS3's main drive.

Your problem could be that the PlayStation isn't recognizing the Hard Drive, which means either you have a non compatible hard drive, or something is wrong within the HDD bay and causing your console to not be able to read internal HDD.
I recommend searching online for other people that are having the same issue and read what they did as a solution.

Is the hard drive compatible with your super slim? as in SATA and so on? If yes please try re-installing the Firmware, then share the result with us.

I am having similar problems too, my ps3 won't game save only in game utility. My HDD is bran new. I have try reformating, rebuild database restore, changing cfw still the same thing. How would I know is the HDD is compatible or no? If it is the bay how do o fix it if can bee fix?
