(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I just got a new controller it syncs with the USB connected. When I remove the USB it turns off.
It simply doesn't turn on without the USB. The four lights don't blink when I press the ps button when the USB is not connected. Works with USB just fine. There may be a problem with the batteries? Shud I replace it or is there a quick fix for it?

Sounds like the batteries can no longer hold charge, either that or something within the controller that allows it to function remotely has died. I would buy a new controller to save you the hassle incase it isn't the batteries.
You could always borrow another controller to see if it's the PS3 aswell.

Check the reset button on the back of the controller small pin sized hole.

If resetting doesn't work it could be the battery or the blue tooth wireless adapter inside the PS3. Try syncing the devices again from the settings menu, could be Bluetooth issue!

Or buy a battery for $3 and a small screw driver and 15 minutes time and that controller is fixed.

Don't think it's a problem with the ps3 Bluetooth adapter, cuz all other controllers are working fine.

and the controller has to be fine otherwise it wouldn't work at all. the controller does not communicate over the usb when plugged in.

making it look for sure like the battery is the problem.

i have seen this behaviour occur at other times also. if you power down the ps3 using the menu "turn off system" with the controller on and plugged in and it shuts off the ps3 as normal, if you then switch it on via the power button the controller can fail to sync and only work with the controller plugged in.
