All the saves posted have great gear and items but I could never dupe then because of the recent patch. If I remove the patch the save asks me to install 1.5 and won't load. Is there anything that can be edited in the save or some type of mod to trick it into thinking it's 1.5?

For you to do this you will need to start all over. You could delete game data and your save. Create a new character without the patch. Do the infinite soul glitch to get you alot of souls & 99 Humanity. Then once you got what you needed you can then install the patch so once you completed NG, you can do the bottomless box glitch for NG+ etc. I beleive you need around 1 billion souls for top rank so it may take a while to do the glitch. I suggest if you was gunna do this just play whole of NG offline so you can do the infinite glitch until you wanting finish NG.

That is only option you have to do it.
