you level up 1 when you kill so each kill you go up 1.

I wanted to know does your starter save on hard or easy? I just need the save for hard but the complete save set the guy's character is really weak and one hit on hard from the boss means your dead and theres only 7 health items which you go through fast. I think it would be better to use your starter save and be able to build the character to my fighting style in the game.

yes its on hard difficulty.
