Evilnat 4.92 → Rebug 4.84 REX
(Using CFW Tools → QA Tools)

READ THIS FIRST
CFW-capable PS3 ONLY
HEN / Super Slim NOT supported
Skipping steps can cause a soft-brick
QA Flags and System Update Debug are required

Requirements
• PS3 running Evilnat 4.92 CFW
• FAT32 USB drive
• Rebug 4.84.2 REX (PS3UPDAT.PUP)
• No downgrader PUP needed

USB Folder Structure
USB:/
└── PS3/
└── UPDATE/
└── PS3UPDAT.PUP

STEP 1: Enable QA Flags (CFW Tools Method)
Go to:
Game → CFW Tools → QA Tools → Enable QA Flags

PS3 will beep and return to XMB — this is normal.

STEP 2: Verify QA Flags (DO NOT SKIP)
Go to:
Settings → Network Settings → Highlight Internet Connection Settings

Press:
L1 + L2 + L3 + R1 + R2 + D-Pad Down

If extra debug options appear → QA Flags enabled
If nothing appears, STOP and do not continue

STEP 3: Enable System Update Debug (REQUIRED)
Allows installing older firmware.

Go to:
Settings → Debug Settings → System Update Debug → ON

Return to XMB
If this is OFF, the downgrade may fail or not appear

STEP 4: Install Rebug 4.84 REX
Copy Rebug 4.84.2 REX PUP to USB,
Insert USB into rightmost USB port,

Go to:
Settings → System Update → Update via Storage Media
Accept warning and install

Do NOT power off during installation
PS3 will reboot automatically

STEP 5: Post-Downgrade Cleanup (Recommended)
Enter Recovery Menu:
Power off PS3,
Hold power → on → off,
Hold power again until two quick beeps,

Run:
[3] Restore File System
[4] Rebuild Database

STEP 6: Configure Rebug
Open Rebug Toolbox:
• System Mode → REBUG
• XMB Operation Mode → Retail
• Enable Cobra Mode (optional)

Reboot

FINAL CHECK
• Rebug 4.84 REX installed
• Debug Settings available
• Stable downgraded CFW
• Full CFW functionality

Common Mistakes
• Downgrading without QA Flags
• Forgetting System Update Debug
• Installing DEX by mistake
• Power loss during update
• Using HEN or Super Slim models

Recovery Tips
• Boot Recovery Menu
• Reinstall same firmware if needed
• If stuck, reinstall Evilnat 4.92, re-enable QA, retry

It's the first ever CFW I've ever installed and I was just a wee lil' kid in ~2018 learning how to jailbreak only thanks to watching MrMario2011, as I was trying to find a way to install Scott Pilgrim after it got nuked from the PS3 store so, yea...

Fun times, even tho I was in for quite the learning curve and still feel like I'm oblivious to a huge chunk of PS3 history to this day 😆
