im pretty sure it wouldnt have created ps2 system memory in the first place...

it mite work with 2008 models but i got the 2009 model, and i also have the ps2/ps1 internal memory space, but can only play ps1 games, no ps2 games. which sucks because i love all my ps2 games, and i would like to play it with a better controller if you know what i mean. ohh well, hopefully it will work for you.
