DO NOT PAY TO FIX YOUR PS3 BEFORE TRYING THIS! DO NOT FORMAT YOUR PS3 BEFORE TRYING THIS!

A while back, my ps3 was broken. I couldnt play any sort of games and i was pissed off to say the least.

I was gonna bring it to a store and get it fixed for HUNDREDS of euros... but then i found this!

This lets you open the Ps3's recovery menu and fix all your software problems, corrupted files, disk read errors, whatever. The option i used didnt delete anything either! I had a HDD error so i used Rebuild Database. I had 40 movies on my Ps3 and plenty of game data, and i still have it all now!

4.Rebuild Database

When you perform this operation, all data on the hard disk will be deleted. Also, the system software will be restored to its default settings. Be careful not to accidentally delete important data as the changes cannot be undone. Data loss or corruption is the responsibility of the user.

try it man... seriously! coz if you watch, you'll see its not even a regular boot up. so you might still be able to get to the recovery menu and from there just try different sh*t!

you have nothing to lose! Smile^

So if the PS3 won't even boot normally, how would i go about getting to the recovery menu if as soon as i touch the power button the PS3 tries to boot and fails?

help would really be appreciated as i would hate to loose all my save data :(

Hold the power button until it beeps, then it will beep again then let go. I don't think it will work with YLOD because that is to do with over heating. It's a motherboard defunct.

No problems mate...

Im not being up my own ass or anything but i think this should be stickied. Ok, it hasnt been the most successful thread but thats only because theres not that many people with broken Ps3's.

It needs to be easy to find when people need it...

You're Goddamn Right
ye i figured this out the other day. My screen froze when loading up MW2 and then wouldn't load any games.

So i just hold the power button (must have no controllers charging) unitl you hear the 2nd beep.

Then go to rebuild file system - doesnt take long either Smile
