Some have also been removed completely, like the XR-005 Hailstorm and XR-003 Sapper, which will not be making a return. Below is a list of all the weapons currently announced for the Resistance 2 Multiplayer:-

M5A2 Carbine
Primary Fire: Automatic Fire (Clip: 50 / Ammo Pool: 200)
Secondary Fire: Grenade Launcher (Clip: 2)
Rounds per Minute: 715 (Grenade Launcher - 120)
Respawn Time: 3 seconds (Grenade Launcher - 20 seconds)
Range: 4/5 (Grenade Launcher - 5/5)
Headshots Needed to Kill: 10.5 (10 Chimera / 11 Human)
Body Shots Needed to Kill: 21 (Grenade Launcher - 1)
Maps: Spawn Locations
Other Info: Offline Mode

The M5A2 Carbine is the starting weapon for the Human forces. It has the 3rd largest clip size and has the 2nd largest ammo pool. In terms of damage, it is the 2nd weakest, but its fast fire rate, makes it a formidible weapon, especially if headshots are made. For example, the M5A2 Carbine can kill someone in approx 0.88 seconds if constant headshots are registered.

The secondary fire is exceedingly powerful and in some cases, could be considered the best weapon in the game. When carrying two grenades in the Grenade Launcher, the odds are heavily in the players' favour.

Tip: The Carbine has good accuracy, even at long range, but if you're attacking someone from behind try to get closer before launching an attack. They'll never know what hit them!

Rossmore 236

Primary Fire: Single Shot (Clip: 6 / Ammo Pool: 1Cool Man (aka Tustin)
Secondary Fire: Double Shot (Uses 2 Shots)
Rounds per Minute: 60 (Double Shot - 40)
Respawn Time: 3 seconds
Range: 1/5
Headshots Needed to Kill: N/A
Body Shots Needed to Kill: 2 (Double Shot - Chimera 1 / Human 2)
Maps: Spawn Locations
Other Info: Offline Mode

The Rossmore 236 is a real brawler's weapon. It is terrible at distance, but close range it is exceedingly handy. It can only carry eighteen shells, but that's more than enough to inflict a lot of punishment on multiple foes. The single shot (primary fire) can kill any enemy in two shots as one full hit can do approx 75% of an opponent's health. It also has a relatively quick firing rate when compared to the amount of damage it can do.

The double shot is lethal when used by a Chimeran, as it will instant kill if good contact is made. This isn't the case when used by a Human though, and when the increased lag between shots is also added to the equation, double shot should be avoided when playing as a Human.

Tip: If you're using the Rossmore 236, you need to get up close and personal with the opposition. Attacking an enemy head on generally isn't a good idea, since you'll get gunned down before you get into range, so use your radar/rage to catch people by surprise.

Tip: When playing as the Chimera, make sure you use double shot to good effect, but try to avoid using it when playing on the Human side, or you could get easily gunned down between shots.

L23 Fareye

Primary Fire: Automatic Fire (Clip: 1 / Ammo Pool: 15)
Secondary Fire: None
Rounds per Minute: 35
Respawn Time: 30 seconds
Range: 5/5
Headshots Needed to Kill: 1
Body Shots Needed to Kill: 2
Maps: Spawn Locations
Other Info: Offline Mode

The L23 Fareye is the only sniper rifle in the game and it is quite different from its offline counterpart. In the online mode, it doesn't have clips, but instead becomes a single shot weapon which needs to be reloaded after each shot. However, it does have 15 bullets in reserve, which means you can fire all the bullets in approx 9 seconds, if you feel inclined.

The other notable omission for the online Fareye is that it has no secondary fire. Obviously the logistics of such a secondary fire would make the online environment rather impossible, so it was removed completely, but it's an extremely powerful weapon without that being included anyway.

Tip: Although camping isn't advocated, it's generally the best way to rack up the sniper kills. However, don't be surprised if people catch on to your position and try to flush you out, so keep your wits about you and try to stay one step ahead of the enemy.

Chaingun

Bullseye
Primary Fire: Automatic Fire (Clip: 70 / Ammo Pool: 210)
Secondary Fire: Tag (Clip: Unlimited)
Rounds per Minute: 910
Respawn Time: 3 seconds
Range: 4/5
Headshots Needed to Kill: 14.5 (14 Chimera / 15 Human)
Body Shots Needed to Kill: 21
Maps: Spawn Locations
Other Info: Offline Mode

The Bullseye is the starting weapon for the Chimeran forces. It has the largest clip size and has the largest ammo pool, which is good due to its huge rate of fire. It is the weakest weapon, but this isn't necessarily a problem due to how quickly bullets can be rained down on an opponent, indeed it can fire approx 15 bullets a second, which is enough to kill someone should they all be headshots.

The secondary fire is what makes this weapon exceedingly dangerous. The "tag" acts as a homing device and once applied, all bullets fired will automatically hit the target unless obstacles are in the way. Tags can however wear off if the target gets too far away from the gun, so make sure the red beam out of the front of the weapon is lit as this shows when a tag is applied.

Note: You can tag your own team-mates, which can be a huge hinderance in a large firefight, as none of your bullets will hit the opposition.

Tip: Only attack someone without tagging as a last resort. The Bullseye can fire incredibly fast, but its accuracy is questionable. Better safe than sorry, right?

Auger
Primary Fire: Single Shot (Clip: 15 / Ammo Pool: 45)
Secondary Fire: Shield (Max 4 - Recharges)
Rounds per Minute: 360
Respawn Time: 3 seconds
Range: 3/5
Headshots Needed to Kill: 2.5 (2 Chimera / 3 Human)
Body Shots Needed to Kill: 5.5 (Chimera 5 / Human 6)
Maps: Spawn Locations
Other Info: Offline Mode

The Auger can be a very effective weapon in the right hands, as it can travel through solid objects. If someone is camping on the other side of a wall, just fire through it and make sure you have the last laugh. While the Auger can fire rounds quickly, the projectiles themselves don't travel as quickly, especially if travelling through a solid object. So make sure you allow for this when firing at a foe.

What can also make the Auger quite useful is the secondary fire. This enables impenetrable (apart from another Auger) shields to be placed infront of the wielder of the weapon, but as just mentioned, the Auger can still fire through these shields. This makes the Auger a good defensive weapon, just try to make sure you don't get cornered in somewhere when the shields expire.

Tip: Firing the Auger through solid objects, such as a wall, makes the bullets more powerful. If a bullet travels through walls and hits an opponent in the head or body (depending on the amount of walls) it can provide an instant kill! It's easier said than done though.

Note: Contrary to common belief, firing through the shields made by your own Auger actually weakens bullets. So if you put up four shields and start raining hell down on an opponent, don't be surprised if he doesn't look too bothered about it.

Marksman
Frag Grenade
Capacity: 2
Throws per Minute: 60
Respawn Time: 20 seconds
Range: 4/5
Body Shots Needed to Kill: 1
Maps: Spawn Locations
Other Info: Offline Mode

Every Human soldier spawns with one Frag Grenade, but they can pick up another one to increase their load to two if they find a Frag Grenade spawn. They are the most generic of the grenades in the multiplayer mode, but they are arguably the most deadly as well.

Frag Grenades can be thrown exceedingly far, but they don't always go where the crosshair is pointing due to gravity. If thrown too far, they will also explode in the air as they have a timer. So if throwing at short range, bear this in mind.

Tip: If you're getting penned in, or are being forced backwards, make sure you throw a Frag Grenade down to cover your tracks. Who knows, someone might walk into it and get you out of what could have been a very awkward situation!

Target Bomber: The Target Bomber ribbon can be obtained by using a Frag Grenade and it's also a very good way to get quick kills. To perform this maneuver, throw a grenade so it lands at an opponents feet and it will instantly explode for an instant kill!

Hedgehog Grenade
Capacity: 2
Throws per Minute: 60
Respawn Time: 20 seconds
Range: 3/5
Body Shots Needed to Kill: 1
Maps: Spawn Locations
Other Info: Offline Mode

Hedgehog Grenades provide a middle-ground between Frag Grenades and Air Fuel Grenades. While they're slightly weaker they explode as soon as they hit the ground (not before), and there is no delay once they land. If thrown against a wall they will fall to the floor and then activate and spray spikes everywhere. This means they're handy for for bouncing off of walls to catch un-suspecting foes off-guard.

Hedgehog Grenades are generally better against Human soldiers due to their spikey nature, but they are still effective for splash damage against Chimeran forces.

Tip: Hedgehog Grenades can be good for doing partial damage to oncoming foes and while they can instant kill if a Target Bomb is managed, they probably won't if it isn't. So make sure you continue the assault in conjunction to their damage.

Target Bomber: The Target Bomber ribbon can be obtained by using a Hedgehog Grenade and it's also a very good way to get quick kills. To perform this maneuver, throw a grenade so it lands at an opponents feet and it will instantly explode for an instant kill!

Air Fuel Grenade
Capacity: 2
Throws per Minute: 60
Respawn Time: 20 seconds
Range: 4/5
Body Shots Needed to Kill: 1
Maps: Spawn Locations
Other Info: Offline Mode

Air Fuel Grenades are extremely powerful grenades, but they do also have their disadvantages. Like the Hedgehog Grenade, they will not activate until they land. However, they do not bounce, instead they stick to whatever surface they land on. So this could be the wall, the floor, or an enemy. The problem with this is that there is a 2-3 second period before they activate, which can give the opposition plenty of time to avoid the ensueing mass of fire that would otherwise engulf and instantly kill them.

If you're caught in the blast radius of an Air Fuel Grenade, you won't live to tell the tale, and if someone manages to stick one on you, it also looks quite grim. They can be shaken off though, but even after this is achieved, you still need to get out of the blast radius. Despite the fact Air Fuel Grenades can be stuck on enemies, Target Bomber cannot be obtained, since it does not activate straight away.

Tip: If you have yourself in a tight spot, you can use Air Fuel Grenades as cover for a hasty getaway. If people dare to follow you, there is a chance they will go up in flames, so most opponents won't take the risk.

For quick reference, here is a list of respawn times for each of the weapons:-

M5A2 Carbine (3 seconds)
Bullseye (3 seconds)
Auger (3 seconds)
Rossmore 236 (3 seconds)
Frag Grenade (20 seconds)
Hedgehog Grenade (20 seconds)
Air Fuel Grenade (20 seconds)
L23 Fareye (30 seconds)
L11-2 Dragon (30 seconds)
Arc Charger (60 seconds)
L209 LAARK (90 seconds)
