(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Resistance 2 will have a vastly different online mode than that previously seen in Resistance: Fall of Man. The most notable difference will be the ability to have 60 players all playing in the same game, whereas the previous maximum was significantly lower. It will also be the biggest experience available on any console to date.

60 Man Multiplayer
Ted Price has frequently stressed that the 60 man multiplayer option will not just be a complete free-for-all. While there will be two teams, these two teams will be divided up into lots of smaller teams. These smaller teams will all be given different objectives and will consist of maybe 5-6 people. They will always have a rival team that is trying to achieve an object that counters their own. Sometimes there may be objects to support allied teams, and other times there might be objects which all teams become involved with.

Different Classes
Resistance 2 will support a class system. The classes known so far are the Medic, Heavy Weapons and Special Ops classes. These will also be open to usage in the online co-operative mode.

Chimera Are Back
As with Resistance: Fall of Man, the Chimera will be once again making a return to online play. No doubt their abilities will be tweaked from that of the first game, but no information has been disclosed about any abilities they may have yet.

Scoring System
The scoring system in Resistance 2 has been heavily tweaked. Players will get a much more "true" score now, as there will be no set figure for assists. Points are awarded based on how much damage is done to an opponent, with an extra bonus being given if a kill is also achieved.

Humans

The inhabitants of planet earth. Civilised, intelligent life forms, until the Chimera Virus emerged. Spreading from Russia across the continent into Africa, and eventually Europe, humans were killed or converted into Chimera...

Now the remaining humans, are fighting back, resisting the Chimera threat that they impose on mankind. In R:FoM, we find a group of US Army soldiers being sent over to hold the Chimera back, one was Sgt Nathan Hale (You know the rest of it Winky Winky) In R2 we find Hale in the US where the Chimera have now arrived. We will let you find out what happens next...

There are 2 known armies, resisting the Chimera...

British Army

From what we learn, they are the last remaining army in Europe with the others being wiped out from what we learn, or working in secret. In R:FoM their army quickly depleted with the US Army having to send troops, Hale one of them. This failed, so they had to fight towards their final destination in special groups, which lead them to take down the tower.

US Army

It was only till big changes occurred, before the US Army took action. In return for an Angel, the Americans supplied the British troops. Unfortunately, a Spire Attack wiped out these troops at York. It was not until the British, went all-out on the Tower, at the Thames, as a last push, that the Americans arrived to supply the British tanks and weapons.

Now in R2, the Chimera are invading America. So now it is the US Army's turn to face the Chimera face-to-face and their country, as the Land of the Free.

Profile: Your Profile allows you and your friends to track your progress in the Multiplayer portion of the game. It shows detailed progress of both Competitive Multiplayer and Co-op Stats, contains ribbons, badges and medals that you may have achieved and details your stats for each weapon.

Leader Boards: Shows people's stats in different categories. Shows the top players to have the most in a certain category.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Game Modes

Core Control: This is like Capture the Flag. Your team has to get the other teams core (wich would be like the flag) and bring it back to your base. When you have the core picked up you cant use your weapons. You have to drop the core to take out your weapons. The team to get the total amount of core captures or the team with the mot captures at the end of the game wins.

Skirmish: Doing several objectives, Capturing a node and defending it for some amount of time. Then going for the next one and so on. Team with the highest score wins.

Team Death Match: Basic team death match. Kill players from the other team. Team with the most kills wins.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Maps/Regions

Chicago, Illinois: A big map overall. City on one side, construction site on the other. Any weapon is good for this map. But there is alot of sniping.

Subway (20): Small underground level. Good games for Core control. Has a bottom floor and a top floor. Close to medium range weapons recommended.

Reconstruction (40): Medium to big map. Construction Site. Good for almost anything. Close to medium ranged weapons.[/b][/color]

Alleys (40): Medium to big map. City, tall buildings good for sniping. Close to long range weapons recommended (a lot of sniping in this map).

Orick, California: Outside small town/creek with a logging place. Good for any weapon but there is always a lot of sniping and marksman users.

San Francisco, California: Small level. Surrounded by water, mostly deathmatch is played here. Close to medium weapons are good for this map.
