Playstation Protection Plan
Sony has just announced a new protection policy. Even though when you buy a playstation product it comes with a one-year warranty; Sony is now offering a new protection policies for the PS3, PSP-3000, PSPgo. This new plan is available to anyone in the U.S. if they are still under the original one-year warranty. The new warranty offers a two to three year addition to the plan. They are also releasing a Accidental Damage Plan that covers such things as screen cracks caused by the owner.
The new plans for PS3 will start at $44.99 for an additional year and $59.99 for two years. The PSP will be $29.99 for one year and $39.99 for two years. The Accidental protection will be $39.99 for one year and $49.99 for two years(this includes the regular extension plan).

You may want to update your post with how people can enroll in this protection plan? Call Sony? or support site? Official link to their blog post/website would also be beneficial.

I already got a store insurence and I get full refund if I so much as get a YLoD

they only have a few stores in this state :p
I also had insurance on my xbox after RRoD then i got all my $400 back for the xbox 360

But I'm glad in Italy the minimum warranty is 2 years, by law.
The thing I don't like about Sony anyway is that - based on what happened to rl friends of mine - it takes up to 3 months to get your ps3 back (and most often they don't send your own console back but another refurbished one).

Do you know why its only for the US and not for any where else? because im in the uk and got in my ps3 in nov/dec last year
