to me MW2 blew this game out of the water. But, GoW2 takes far more skill to play. Mw2 has amazing graphics and multiplayer gameplay but gears has a great campaign and and a good competitive community

Anyone can pick up both games, the MAJOR difference is that the online GoW2 takes a lot of skill to play and there are no try hards, people singing into mic, screaming kids or campers.
