I played and platinum'd the first one but I agree I got very bored with it. I have mixed feelings about this sequel though. After reading the article in Game Informer they are getting a new voice actor and completely redoing Cole's personality as well as physical features....so basically he's a completely different person but the story is a continuation so they really just threw the continuity out the damn window. Also I read they are making the climbing more "realistic," maybe not as real as Assassin's Creed but not like it was in the original inFamous. Also Sucker Punch is cool in my book because I am a big fan of Sly Cooper (the original) but they look like they are following the same trend with that game. In inFamous 2 Zeke is supposed to play a bigger role as he tags along with you on missions and provides support. Just like Sly Cooper. The original was based around Sly with mini-games incorporating the support characters but in Sly 2 you had to drag the other 2 characters around swapping between them in order to complete objectives. I'm not a big fan of this in games unless it's something along the lines of a Final Fantasy with a party based game set up, not to mention Zeke was one of my least favorite characters in this game. So overall it's hard for my to make a decision yet but as it stands this game is definitely a rent at the moment I mean I already wasted $ on inFamous and regretted it so I don't plan on making the same mistake. On the upside the graphics in this game from the screenshots I saw in the new issue of GI look amazing but graphics are hardly a selling point for me.

Oh and also I really felt the evil side was the way to go in the first one considering your entire look changes. You become more evil looking and your red lightning becomes red with black by the end. Maybe the good side added white but I couldn't tell if it did. But to me the evil side definitely went better with the story behind Kessler's actions.

Saw the presentation for this game during Sony's E3, no solid gameplay so not really sure what to think yet.
I think all it really needs though is a little more variation in the story.
