Welcome to the Ultimate Trophy/Achievements Guide Thread

In this thread there will be various Trophy and Achievement guides for those hardcore gamers *cough* average gamers :p

What are Trophies?

Trophies the plural of the word Trophy when you are talking about several of them.

Trophies are awards for completing certian task's in games, much like Achievements on Xbox and Steam.

You need the Playstation 3 to have firmware 2.40 and higher (current is 3.40) to add Trophy Support.

You may need to update the games to get the Trophy patches. Not all games support trophies, the developers have to implement this. However all the games which have been released after February 2009 have trophy patches.

When you have the firmware version of 2.40 or higher you can click on your friends accounts and see what trophies they have (hit triangle to compare there Trophy Collection to yours) and see what gamer level they are at.

What's more is that after the Playstation 3 latest firmware update (v3.40) you can now view the Playstation Network (PSN) members gamer level by hovering over their Playstation Network ID.

What are Achievements?

Achievements on the Xbox count towards your gamerscore. Many users will look at someones gamerscore before even considering playing with them, using it as a measure of skill and devotion to gaming. The higher your gamerscore, the more you play games (and presumably, the better you are At games)

Sadly I don't know much about Achievements that's why I didn't post that much here. If you want me to add more information about Achievements please let me know and give me some information about them.

Comparison

If you look at it from a non-biased point of view both Achievements and Trophies are more or less the same. But as I am a Playstation fanboy I think that Trophies are better :whistle: The Platinum Trophy is a lot more rewarding than 1000G... heck, even the sound of when you obtain a Trophy is better :p
