(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); So I came down with YLOD today, here is some info that might help out those unlucky few like me that come down with it. I have a release date PS3, I called Sony and there's pretty much two options. Option A) Send in mine and pay them $149 and they send me back a 120GB Slim one turn around time is about 8 days. B) Send in mine and pay them $179 which is $149 to fix & $29 for shipping both ways and they fix mine and send it back to me turn around time is about 10 days. I don't want to loose my Release date PS3 so I will be taking option B. Today is a sadddd, saddddd day hope none of you guys go through this, good luck!

By the way to add insult to injury MW2 is stuck inside, for those of you wondering they do send you the game back.

As of today July 18th I am currently bidding on a Special Edition Gun Metal Gear solid PS3 on Ebay, will let you know how it works out.

I am now the proud owner of a GunMetal Color Special Edition PS3 just bought off of Ebay, will let you know when I receive it. I'm excited!

6 Days after I came down with "YLOD" I received my Brand New ps3 fresh off of Ebay here are pics, I bought the Gun Metal Color PS3 which was a Limited Edition MGS release through Konami!

You could always try fix your PS3 using this guide: You must login or register to view this content.
It's not a permanent fix though, it's likely to brake again quite quickly.

See that's my dilema, since yesterday I have been reading and a bunch of people say that even after they send theirs to sony to get it fixed the problem occurs again 6 months down the road. This is my concern spending $180 to get a few more months usage.

I went straight to Best Buy today to buy one and when I got there I thought about it and didn't get it. The thing is I'm waiting for Game stop to get the new Xbox360's in stock so I could get one. So it's either end up with 2 PS3'S the fixed old one & new slim one or fix mine and end up with 1 PS3 & 1 XBOX..lol

What exactly is that method??? Cause I found a video on you tube and I did what it said to blow dry the vents in the back for 15 minutes then stick it in the freezer for a few minutes I can tell you this did not work for me, I can't even get the disk out!

I put it in the box and blowdry it for 20-22 minutes, then i put a fan and let the fan blow the hot air out. then i let it sit (out of the box) for about an hour to make sure it's at room temp.

See that's where I went wrong I did not put it inside a box, is this necessary?? The theory of doing this is to re-melt the sawder right ??? I'm give it another try tonight, how long will this fix work for ????

i guess it depends on how much u use it, i used it alot and it burned out in 2-3 weeks, but i'm not exactly sure how long it will last with moderate usage

How long do the ps3s last after you fixed the YLOD yourself?

Someone told me it depends on how much you use it, so it could be anywhere from 2-3 weeks if you use it alot to a few months if you use it lightly.
