Lol, you can't record gameplay off your PS3 with PC software. You can however use a program like fraps to record PC gameplay...

I got my Dazzle for $50. I think Easy Caps are $20 though.

check on amazon for some deals, I think I saw one their earlier for like 20 dollars

Pretty sure you can get an easey cap for around $15.
Dazzle for around(requires 3 splitters and some female connectors) $50

FYI i think alot of quality issues have to do with the performance of your PC+capture software+editing software. I have seen some pretty good quality with the easey cap and the dazzle so you may want to look at your PC version first.
