(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); When you read the title of this post you most likely though "wtf?" I would too. But this isn't to tell you how to get into a store and come out with a game. These are just some tips that may help you buy a game you will like.

The Cover

So you've probably heard " Don't judge a book by its cover" well in this case I would say " Judge a game by its cover". So you walk into a store and see a game you haven't heard of. You pick it up and wonder if it's good. To help you decide look at the front and back cover of the game. Most games have screenshots of the game on the back. Does it look interesting?

Next read the short description, that should help you get an idea of what the game is about. Look a little bit lower and it will have more information such as number of players(offline and on), headset compatibility, etc. If you like the game from the cover don't be too hasty and buy it right there.

Do a little research

Games for the nextgen consoles aren't priced the same as PS2 games were. Back then 20-30 dollars and you would get a good new game. But now its mostly $60-$65. So doing a little research on the game can save you money and time(if you decide to return the game)

Get on the internet and look at some professional reviews for the game. They will most likely list the pros and cons of the game. But it can be confusing at times because you have to ask yourself " Do the pros outweigh the cons?"
You can also ask some of your friends if they have played the game, if it was worth it, and anything you may want to know about the game.

Final Step

The most important person that can help you buy the right game is yourself! Think about what YOU like. If you like FPS shooters with blood and gore you most likely will not "Barbies Horse Adventures". Also think about the replayability of the game. Sandbox games such as GTA and Saints Row have great replayability because the game never ends. But games such as COD are more for the online play, because after beating the single player campaign there will be nothing new left.

So after all this you decide to buy the game. The first thing you should do when you bring it home is play it. Play it for 5 days and see if you like the game alot. This is important because if you bought it at a Gamestop store you only have 7 days to return it after opening it. If you dislike the game return it and buy another one. Trading the game back in after a month will make you loose $40-$50.
