This is my review for the PlayStation Plus Subscription. PlayStation
Plus came out 6/15/10. They have promised to their Subscriber:
1.) Games
2.) PS Store Discounts
3.) Betas/Exclusive Content
4.) Early Access/Exclusive 60 minute trials
From what I have experienced and calculated, Sony has delivered their promise on 4 out of 4 of these subjects.
Games:
The Playstation Plus service has done a fairly good job on their games. They have not only discounted a few of their games, but have given out a few as well. Some of them are minis which we could care less about. Some of them are full games such as Wipeout HD. They have also released a few free PS1 classics such as Syphonfilter, and RallyCross. Rating (7) out of (10)
PS Store Discounts:
The PlayStation Store have been generous in their discounts. But not on the right games....... They are offering discounts on games such as Cuboid, Hamsterball, Fat Princess, Fat rolls, Resistance, and Gauntlet. What I would really love to see discounted though, are more discounts on add-ons to games that we actually play. Rating (6) out of (10)
Betas/Exclusive Content:
As far as betas go, Mag is the only one. The exclusive content ranges from exclusive themes, to avatars right now. On the downside of the exclusive avatars they have right now, if you buy the 35 avatar street fighter bundle, and download them into your avatar file, it will slow down the speed of how long it takes to see all of the avatars you can choose from which is annoying. The exclusive themes are not that great but remember, its only been out for 2 and a half months. Rating (5) out of (10)
Early Access/Full 60 Minute Game Trials:
As far as early access goes, it's basically for game trials. EX: Kayne & Lynch demo was only playable for PlayStation Plus Users for about a week or two and then it came out for the general PlayStation User. As far as the demos go; they are quite old and most of us already have the games, inFamous and Red Faction. Rating(5) out of (10)
So far, PlayStation Plus has given its users $114.63 in free items,(Which will go away once your subscription is up unless renewed) and has given $65.15 in discounted items. Which brings PlayStation Plus grand total of Free/Discounted items up to $179.78 as of 8/24/10 This may vary if you are in a PlayStation Tax state. Who knows what they will come out with for PlayStation Plus users in the future.
PlayStation Plus Has its ups and downs. But overall, I will rate it a (7.2) out of (10)
I hoped I have helped people decide whether to get this service or not through this review. Good luck.
