Yea, but at the time (I'm guessing) sony didn't know it would fail.
They were rushing to get the PS3 out B4 christmas just like microsoft.
Did everyone forget the hard drive failures around the launch of these consoles?
Either they made an honest mistake or They are incurring the cost of 150$ to try and recoup some of their losses.
Because as Fraz said they sold the PS3 at a loss.

thanks-I'm on my 2nd ps3-the first one will work on everything but it won't read a blueray disc. Don't know how to fix it-so just went out and bought a new one.

Get a DVD player cleaning kit from radio shack or a computer cleaning kit from office depot or somewhere. Clean It.

The ps3 can be fixed no matter what sony will fix it for free even after warrenty. If yours does break which they dont for a long time.

Make a post and shoot a link my way because other than you just saying that... It's never been true to my knowledge so please provide a fact or two to back it up.

It's still a 2:1 failure rate for Xbox v PS3.

for every ten F'ed up Xboxes there will be five YLOD PS3's however within the past two months or so Microsoft said they permanently fixed the issue.
