If you happen to have a cramped 20GB or 40GB PlayStation 3 – much like this writer – and are waiting patiently to get behind the virtual wheel of Polyphony's Gran Turismo 5 – much like this writer – you may want to clear out some of those dusty game installs, demos and trailers you've long since forgotten about.
More pointedly, the upcoming first-party PlayStation 3 exclusive, which recently took the coveted Game of Show award at the Gamescom trade fair in Germany, comes with a hefty 10GB game installation, even though only a fairly innocuous 256MBs of memory are needed to get the game up and running via Blu-ray.
The somewhat shocking hard disk recommendation was been put forth via Twitter by Polyphony boss Kaz Yamauchi, who suggested that expectant fans will need to clear the way for 10GBs of space if they want to experience a truly smooth gameplay experience.
While many PlayStation 3 game installations can weigh in at several gigabytes and take anywhere up to half an hour to complete, it's likely that Gran Turismo 5's whopping installation could see impatient drivers twisting their controllers and steering wheels for upwards of an hour.
Still, what's an extra hour when you've been waiting around six years to actually slam down the accelerator on Sony's repeatedly delayed racing sim.
