Out of all consoles out there, PlayStation 3 ( PS3 ) is my favorite one. It can handle games like no other and has a pretty wide variety of options for a gamer. But the latest rumor out there says that all of my favorites are about to change, as the development for the PlayStation 4 console has already begun. A release date has also been speculated, giving me enough time to change my letter for Santa Claus.

The source of these rumors is non-other than an Australian Game Informer issue, number 9 to be more specific. A picture has surfaced this magazine, saying that Sony’s developers have begun working on PlayStation 4. It is well known that any console developer is giving a heads up for all Game publishers out there, by releasing a little piece of information like this, with up two years in advance. This helps companies to prepare their games for the new console. So, we speculate for a late 2012 PS4 release date.

We also hope to soon get more information of the PlayStation 4 specs, as the PS4 release date is fast approaching. No information is yet available, but I am sure Sony is preparing something good for us. On the launch of the PlayStation 3, the developer said it will have a life of 10 years. As technology advances very fast, that will sure be infirmed. And the best part that this phrase gives us is the reliability of one product. If they made one console so good in 2006, why they shouldn’t make an almost perfect one in 2012?

I had made a perdiction years ago that we wouldnt see any new consoles from any of the current 3 till at least 2014 but then a saw the PS3 2 and 1 realese dates and there all six years apart. This kinda shocked me because i dont feel like i got everything out of my PS3 purchase. I mean for PS2 we had 3 GTAs 2 GTs and 2 MGS's we only have had about one for each, GT hasnt release yet and MGS Rising is well... I want Snake!

Well, that’s it. What do you think? Will Sony complete the PlayStation 4 developments until the 2012 release date? Or it will be later?

2012 seems pretty soon but it is true that all the playstations were 6 years apart. But it just seems like the PS3 is a lot different then the others.

I think PS4 should come out 2014-2015 the reason being is I don't feel PS3 has reached it's full potential not even close. SONY also was quoted somewhere in saying that "PS MOVE" is meant to pump a few more years into the life of PS3 <--weather this is the case or not remains to be seen. I would more than welcome a PS4 but we have game developers designing games that only use %60 or %70 of PS3's power how about we perfect using %100 percent of it then move on to bigger and better things. :wtf:

I Had found this article a while back

"It's been said before, but Jack Tretton thought it wise to re-issue a statement regarding the life expectancy of the PlayStation 3. A lot of folks may see a price drop this early indicative of a short console life, a desperate move, or the clever cutting of manufacturing costs to help consumers save money also. We like the latter, but the former two are what need addressing -- Tretton assures the world that the PS3 is set for a future-proof, 10 year life. He said Sony could have made a PS2.5 and taken a ride on the money train, but they opted not to. He takes a shot at the competition, saying "To be perfectly honest with you, I think that is a bit of what we are competing with." Or is he talking about the PS2 itself?

A few more choice statements from Tretton covered how the system doesn't need to convert everybody from day one. They can take their time selling consoles across ten years, he says. We guess this is since the price is an obstacle for many people right now, even with the price cut. Finally, Tretton assures us Sony has built "a machine that we firmly believe is future proof and is going to carry us for the next 10 years." We hope so and we can't wait for all the years ahead of us. We hardly know more than a handful of titles slated for 2008, let alone 2010."

Im sure Sony could release the PS4 by 2012 to be honest, mostly due to the fact that PS3 is the the most advanced system out and theres really no need to update all the chips and boards in the console. More so since the PS3 hasn't even been pushed NEAR its limits.

If it comes out in 2014 or 2012 I'll be first in line in my town to get my hands on one.
