How to get ingame sound through a headset

I've been searching for a way to get the ingame sound of a game the headset to get. What i eventually found was not exactly what I wanted, so I had my own way of figuring it out.
Here's how I've done it:

I'm going to assume you have all this stuff:

Supplies:

- A USB sound card

- One headset with the 3.5 input jacks (which are also earphones)

- PS3

- A game where you can play online

Additional links: (which I personally used to achieve the result)

Steps:

Step 1:
grab the headset and split the two ends where the jacks are on display.

Make these as long as you think is necessary.

(I mean by splitting the two mic wires and ear pieces stuck together, that you should separate them so you get longer leads. )

Step 2:
plug the mic into the soundcard input.

Step 3:
plug the soundcard in the PS3 and the audio input to the TV using a converter if necessary.

Step 4:
Now put these settings on the ps3 with peripherals:

input device - usb sound card.
output device - standard appliance.

That should have done the trick!:y:
