What I've been doing is scanning eBay. You can find a YLOD PS3 on there forabout £40 and just send a message to the person selling and ask when it was last online.

and then just fix it or find somebody who knows how to fix it. Then you can either sell it, at somewhere like CEX Exchange and you will almost have the money to buy a brand new one basically. And, if you can't fix it, then put it back up on eBay and try to sell it for more lol.
