Post: PS3 YLoD Help

Chrome
At least I can fight
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I have a YLoD Ps3, and I already took it apart. However, I've seen multiple videos about "How To Fix YLoD"

Some say I have to heat the board that the CPU and GPU is located, and re-apply the Thermal Compund.

Other people say that there is no need to heat the board up, just scrape off any of the Thermal Compound thats already there, and apply a new, fresh coat of it. (Evenly Spread)

I need to know this before re-assembling my PS3

Thanks in advance!

here i made this unappriciated thread for the right way to do it You must login or register to view this content. but in words

1st: clean the old thermal paste with goo gone
2nd: get your flux(no clean flux is prefered as no clean) and turn the board to a 65 degrees angle and pour the flux under the GPU and CPU so the liquid get all under the chips
3rd:heat the GPU and CPU and the two chip above it with a heat gun at around 300 degrees going in circles for 10-15sec a chip. after you are done DO NOT TOUCH THE BOARD for at least 15min.
4th:Flip it and heat the back of the GPU and CPU and two chips above then for 10-15sec each going in circles. after you are done DO NOT TOUCH IT FOR AT LEAST 15 MIN.
5th: flip it back over and apply the thermal compound(actric silver 5 prefered) on top of the GPU and CPU in a very thin layer.
6th:reassemble you ps3
