FALLOUT: NEW VEGAS
Everything You Need To Know

Fallout: New Vegas is the next installment in the Fallout series. It is being developed by Obsidian Entertainment, and being published by Bethesda Softworks.

Although New Vegas is in no way related to Fallout 3, it uses the same engine, so gameplay will be familiar to those who played Fallout 3 (If you haven't, go get it Smile). It is due to be released Oct 19th in US, Oct 22nd in EU/AU and Nov 4th in JP. It will be released for PS3, 360 & PC.

Story

Like other Fallout games, New Vegas is set in a post-apocalyptic world because of the fictional Great War that occured in 2077, October 23rd. New Vegas didn't get hit directly during the war, so most of its buildings are still intact, as can be seen in some of the New Vegas trailers.

The storyline will continue some parts of the story from Fallout & Fallout 2, but will have nothing to do with Fallout 3. New Vegas is set in the year 2281, three years after Fallout 3 and 39 years after Fallout 2. The New California Republic will play a major role in the storyline in a three-way struggle between the Caesar's Legion Slavers and the population of New Vegas.

The player is referred to as the Courier (like in Fallout 3 the pc was named the Vault Dweller). Not much is known about the story at the minute, but the start of the game will involve the Courier delivering a package, and ending up getting shot. The pc is found by a robot, and is then sent to a city called Goodsprings. After this introduction, the pc is free to go wherever they choose. It has been confirmed that Fallout: New Vegas will have only 1 ending, like Fallout 3.

Gameplay
The gameplay system used in New Vegas will be very similar to Fallout 3, although changes have been made to make it more like a first person shooter, for example you are now able to aim down your weapons' sights.

There will be a Hardcore Mode in Fallout: New Vegas, which will make the game more realistic and, obviously, harder. Differences between the normal difficulty and hardcore include stimpacks taking time to heal, ammo having weight, having to eat, drink and sleep to stay alive, and crippled limbs not being able to be fixed with a stimpack.

The SPECIAL system from Fallout 3 returns in New Vegas, and perks will be obtained every 2 levels. VATS also returns, with some changes such as melee weapons having special VATS-only moves. Another feature has been added, so that players who prefer to play in real-time instead of VATS can see a kill in slow motion as it happens.

Karma will return, but it will be implemented alongside a reputation system. Reputation will keep track of your relationships between different towns and factions. A high reputation with a faction may get you benefits from that faction, such as being given free items etc. A low reputation may lead to people hunting you down and wanting to put a bullet between your eyes.

Weapons will now be customisable, with 3 attachments being allowed on a weapon at once. Attachments will include things like scopes and extended mags etc.

Another new feature will be the Companion Wheel. This will enable the pc to give simple orders to companions such as "attack" or "flee" (hopefully this means no more companions running up to attack a Deathclaw with a pistol then Happy)

Well thanks for reading this, btw this is my first lengthy thread, so feedback is appreciated for stuff like layout etc. Happy
