(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I recently repaired the YLOD on a 40gb FAT & now all it does is when I switch on after about 5 minutes fan go's into overdrive & switches off overheating. I replaced the thermal compound with artic silver scraping off the old one, cleaned ALL the dust and it is a very well ventilated area standing vertical also my slim never overheats & is in same area so its not the temp of the room or anything like that.
the 40gb has been out of warranty a long time ago...

Any ideas?
