his post is old and the dns is been patched by sony,but he could downgrade from 3.56 to 3.55 if thats what hes on the copy the mw2 patch over then upgrade back to 3.56.but saying that infinty ward are releasing a patch to stop all the cl soon.

To answer your question:
Once updated to 3.50, you wont be able to change patches Unless you go to 3.55 and jailbreak your PS3, so you have the ablilty to change patches.
DNS Bypass has been patched so there is no way of going online unless you update to firmware 3.56
