Activision officially announced a sequel to Prototype.

This time, however, the protagonist isn't Alex Mercer. Instead, he's the target of one Sgt. James Hellen, who seems to have undergone infection himself in an attempt to take out Mercer. Release date is still to Be Announced. Platforms we can expect it in is PC, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360.

Publisher is Activision while the developer is Radical Entertainment.

HOLY SHIT! That is SICKK! Can NOT wait.

I've gotta say I'm disappointed. Alex Mercer was the best main character I've seen in such a long time, this guy will have a hard time living up to that, just that fact that he proclaims to be a good guy doing the right thing is boring. What was great about Alex was that he never pretended to be in the right, he just wanted to survive and know what the **** was going on. That is what made him such a good main character.

Yeah I think so 2 and I think they just didn't have any better ideas then just replacing Alex with that new Guy I was hoping that the main character was Alex Mercer again but I think it's still gonna be awesome even if the new guy has some of the same powers as Alex

Totally, if it still has the dark wibe and awesome feeling that the first game had, it's gonna be great

Hold the phone here, was that giant thingy in the end Alex Mercer? And will this game be the continuation of how the first game ended or will it be after? Think about it, in the first game it ended with the virus being exposed by that red gas causing it to co-exist and make everything normal again. Yet in the first game no guy was looking for you and by the looks of the trailer you don't have the same powers but you have something more that will go against Mercer. If that's the case the game should be taken place after the first ending where Mercer is in fact more powerful since he has been around long enough to Adapt and Overcome more and more of a challenge to fight in the sequel...

Well to me it seems like the game would be some time after the first game, not far off in the future, maybe a month or so after the first games end. And yuh, how could a normal infected dude beat the most evolved one (Alex Mercer) who not only devouverd Elizabeth, but her son as well.

I really hope that in this game the soldier sent to kill Mercer is eaten by him or eats and becomes him since mercers virus is much more potent. Or that he in fact fails and becomes an ally.

The story would be too boring and straight forward if it's only about killing Alex Mercer.
