First of all...

I have the 80GB 4 USB MGS Edition PS3.

My PS3 is starting to run alot hotter than it normally used to.

My fan will start going full blast at about 15 Min of play time..

Other than Temp and Fan speed nothing else has *yet* to happen regarding that.

I was wondering if it would be a good idea to take PS3 apart for cleaning and better circulation..

When I mean take apart I mean taking part of case of if possible (like Xbox 360) so air can get in and I can get rid of dust and what not.

I did this with my old Xbox 360 and I got 3 rings of death 2 months later and was SOL on getting repairs (voided warranty)

But I have never once even had my PS3 freeze.

My PS3 is anywhere from 2 to 3 years old I don't remember.

I just wanted to know the odds of something going wrong on PS3 and if I void my warranty I don't want to have to buy and new PS3 if this one breaks..

Thank you

if your ps3 is already 2-3 years old, the warranty is already gone. so might aswell open it to clean it if you want. if it ever ends up breaking, it cost 99$ to get it fixed from sony. so i would recommend just opening it and cleaning all the dust out.

I thought if I opened it they wouldn't fix it because of the suspicion of me tampering..

That's how Microsoft was with my xbox 360?

I suggest buying some compressed air and blowing it into the little nooks and crannies of the ps3 if you don't want to take it apart.
