Go to the store that you want to buy the PS3, preferably a local Game Stop. Ask them for the oldest PS3 they have. Now, if they ask why, make up an excuse, but dont tell them the real reason why. Then, you're PS3 should be lower than 3.50. If it's lower that 3.41, or whatever it is that you want, let me know and I'll guide you through the updating process to update it to the Firmware you want without making it update to the new one.
