Post: Can't update PS3 without Bluray

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Hi,

I've been using a busted PS3 for a couple years now to just stream movies from my PC to my TV. The other day I wanted to update the PS3 so I could use Netflix without the Bluray(new software allows this). I proceeded to update the firmware and now I'm getting error code 8002f14e. Looks like I can't update the PS3 because I don't have the bluray drive installed. I tried fixing the drive a couple times before. I still have the mated board, but I don't want to spend any more $$ on this thing that I already have. I might as well buy another new Ps3 than spend more $$ on this one(i probably spend enough on this to buy a new one anyways). So is there no way to get me out of this update loop that I'm stuck in right now? Am i SOL? This is a first gen ps3 i believe.

i had the same problem i used the sticky bit on a post it note and stuck it to the bluray ribbon motherboard end to make sure it was getting a good connection.have you tried with your controller connected via bluetooth?if you controller is not connected your ps3 thinks somthing is wrong with bluetooth board. i had the problem for a few months always reset between 65-72% i did this and it went from 70% straight to 100

hope i helped let me know if it worked

just read through your post again and noticed your trying without blu ray do you still have it?if you do then try the above if not then i dont think it will update without the right bluray drive
